Blue Coral Banded Shrimp

Coral Banded Shrimp, also known as boxer shrimp, are one of the mostly commonly kept shrimp in the reefkeeping hobby. These shrimp, identified by the bright white and red bands on their bodies and large pincer claws, look considerably different from most other reef shrimp. As their appearance suggests, Coral Banded Shrimp are substantially more aggressive than most other shrimp species, however they only pose a threat to other smaller invertebrates who intrude on their territory. These shrimp are nocturnal and prefer an aquarium with plenty of caves and ledges to hide in. During the molting process, these shrimp can occasionally hide for one to two days as their new shell hardens. These shrimp are very hardy and are suitable for most saltwater aquariums.
