Blue Gudgeon Dartfish

The Blue Gudgeon Dartfishalso known as the Blacktail Goby or Blacktail Dartfishhails from the vibrant reefs of the Indo-Pacific. Its slender body displays a soft blue to green hue, highlighted by a distinct black spot on the tail. These peaceful fish thrive in pairs and are an excellent addition to both fish-only and reef aquariums.

They require an aquarium of at least 30 gallons, featuring a sandy substrate for burrowing, plenty of open swimming space, and scattered coral rubble to hide among. As natural jumpers, a secure, tight-fitting lid is essential to prevent escape. They are generally peaceful and rarely show aggression toward tankmates.

In the wild, they feed on plankton suspended in the water column, though they’ll also pick at food on the substrate. In captivity, they should be offered a varied carnivorous diet including mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, finely chopped table shrimp, and quality frozen preparations. For best health, feed them at least three times daily.
