Industrial Grade Clear Aquarium Silicone Sealant – GE

This GE SCS1200 is what we use to build the aquariums in our retail store. The high strength sealant is silicone-based and is capable of providing very strong adhesion for a very long time. It is commonly used in a variety of different general and structural glazing applications and is 100% non-toxic once cured.

Once the silicone is cured, it will show minimal changes in elasticity with ultimate elongation peaking at 513% and a tensile strength capable of withstanding up to 480 psi.

SCS1200 will adhere to most nonporous materials used in construction. Moreover, it can also be used on a variety of finishes, including glass, plastic, vinyl, polycarbonate and coated aluminum. Once it is cured, it will show thermal stability at temperatures ranging from -55 degrees Fahrenheit up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit and it can also withstand temporary exposure to temperatures up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

SCS1200 comes as a lightweight paste which is easily used in both hot and cold weather as the consistency remains unchanged while it is being applied. Once it is applied, the silicone is tack free in 30 minutes and full cure time will take anywhere between 24 and 48 hours. After it is cured, it will form a strong translucent seal that will barely allow any kind of slippage or sinkage, even on vertical or overhead applications. The sealant comes in a 10.1 oz. tube.
